Then & Now [Again]

Back in July I blogged the post which is below. It’s about me and my niece Anna who was visiting from Winchester and a re-enactment photo we took. Well, the gorgeous Anna has been here again, so we took the photo again. We’ve decided to take the same photo, every time she visits. I’ve added the new one here, but, the text of the post is the same. If you read it the first time, by all means skip it (nah, don’t, read it again), if not, please read it. As I read it back, I thought “yeah that’s right, we really can do this!”

On the left: Easter 2010 On the right: Sunday 10 July 2011

Sunday 18th Sept. Not much difference in my face from July above (except no tan :-(), but, I am 23lbs less in overall weight than the July picture 😀

The July re-post:

My niece Anna was in town over the weekend visiting from Winchester.

In Easter 2010 we took a photograph whilst sitting in church. I have a real love/hate relationship with this photograph because a) Anna looks gorgeous, beautiful and lovely, in fact, she looks like Anna always looks. Then b) I look like I’m about to have a heart attack. I’m grey, sweatie, fat (obviously) and deathly *shudders*.

We decided we needed an updated version in keeping with the new and improving me. What do you think of the result?

I’ve got to tell you we are thrilled with the new pic. Slightly out of focus unfortunately, but, the difference in me is clear to see. Come on you beauty!!!!!!!!!

Continuing proof that the journey I am on is well worth the effort.

I know I’ve said this before, but, please indulge me…

Guys, if I can do this, so can you. That’s not a cheap shot. I’m not trying to make you feel bad. I’m not judging you. I mean it sincerely from the heart. I know how you feel.

Maybe (like me) you have a problem with your weight.

Maybe (like me) it’s affecting your physical health.

Maybe (like me) it’s affecting your mental health and you are depressed.

Maybe (like me) it’s affecting your confidence and self esteem.

Maybe (like me) you’ve tried ALL the diets.

Maybe (like me) you think it’s too late and there is no way you can get healthy.

Maybe (like me) you are convinced you’ve not got much time left here on planet earth.

Well, maybe (like me) you can take a small step to turn everything around. It’s not too late guys. Trust me I now know it’s true.

If you can be a little bit more healthier today than you were yesterday, that’s a step, that’s a start, that’s gonna make a change. Then tomorrow, do the same again, just be a little bit more healthier today than you were yesterday.

For me, exercise and/or activity is key. For me, ‘diets don’t work’. For me ‘scale watching don’t work’. I’m not saying you need to pound it out at the gym, all you need to do is add some activity or exercise in to your life.

Most evenings, I go for a walk now. I try and encourage my family to join me and my wife and daughter are the main two from the immediate fambo who come along. They have both lost weight and they have both lost inches. Admittedly my wife also comes to the gym (when she can make it), but, not my daughter. With her, it’s just walking and it’s having a positive effect. 20 to 30 minutes tops, three to five nights a week. It works.

Go on, have a go, you WILL NOT be sorry.

Sermon over, let’s say the Grace!!!

Adios amigos,

Paul (Kracker)

About paulbentley

My name is Paul Bentley and I started my blog in May 2011. I live in Liverpool in the North West of England, UK – I have always had ‘issues’ with my weight! When I got to 27st 13lbs (177kgs or 391lbs) I finally decided that ‘enough is enough’ and I need to make changes. As part of the process I decided I need to make myself accountable, so I’ve decided to be accountable to you. Thanks for offering ;-)
